At last, the legendary actress of Bengali film Suchitra Shen has knocked down at eternal sleep. She breathed her last at Bellevue Hospital in Kolkata on 17 January 2014, Friday morning. She was 82. The great actress was honoured with a gun salute during her funeral at the Keoratala crematorium on the day afternoon. Everybody have already known the news.
I am not going to describe the news. I want to describe about her 35 years mysterious hidden life briefly that is remained still now.
After 1978 ending her 25 years of glorious actress life that she has gone in hidden life after then she did not come much in front of the people. But none could find the actual cause of why she chooses the life of interval. It has remained hidden mysteries still now. She spent the last 35 years in the four-walls of her house.
Now and then Sen used to spend her time reading books on spirituality and worshiping Tagore or listening to devotional songs. Sometimes she would spent time watching flowers, plants and the sky too. In spite of exorbitant wealth she used to lay on a plank of wood beside the bedstead in her bedroom. However, she was a patient of spandelaisice for long time. Always some religious books would remain beside the head.
After all, Shuchitra shen took shelter of religion to refuge her loneliness. She became a regular pupil of Bharat Maharaja from Ramakrishna Mission. Now and again she would rushed to Bharat Maharaja to find answers of many questions rising in her mind. Earlier she used to chat with acquaintances at home on a regular basis, then the close relatives were come, but that also was closed slowly. She would gone for shopping sometime. Once she went to a book fair in 1984, covered face by a huge black optical but it had to be back escaping quickly. She did not go out cause of annoying of people or fans. For this reason she went to tribute to Uttom Kumar's coffin at midnight. Now and again she spent time with her daughter and granddaughters. In fact, she was completely hidden at her house last two decades. She went away leaving us but away, the cause of the silence of 35 years remained mysterious !!! But lot of fans and the Bengali film industry will forever remain indebted to the heroin of "A fine mix of personality and beauty".
