The British Railway engineer of the Asam-Bengal Railway Company materialized the lake to serve as a water reservoir for the residents of Chittagong area. It was named after the British engineer Mr. Foy.
I first visited the lake about fifteen years ago. The area was not such develop then. The roads were in need of repair. There was also a shortage of good quality hotels. Now a days the scene has changed to a great extent. Now there are good communications. Also many good quality hotels, first food, departmental stores, motor workshops and variant kind of shops are available in the area. Almost all of them are in good condition.
