Introduction: Dr. Muhammad Younus is only the man who first brought a Nobel Peace Prize for Bangladesh. He is one of the greatest sons of this land. As a man he is an extraordinary brilliant and intellectual person of the contemporary world. Presently he is not only the asset of Bangladesh, he is also an asset of the world.

Occupationally he is a professor of economics and an efficient banker. Dr. Younus is a pride of Bangladesh. Suffice it to say, he is a greatest economical conductor of the present era. In spite of that, he is a unassuming, honest and modest man also. As usually we're all respect to him. 

Birth and Family: The greatest and honorable award of the world the Nobel Prize laureate Dr. Md. Younus was born on June28,1940, in a noble Muslim family in the village of Bathua at Hathazari district of Chittagong in bangladesh. His father's name was Dula Meah Showdagar and mother's name was Sufia Khatun. His father was a famous goldsmith in Chittagong. Dr. Younus is the third in fourteen(14) sibling of whom five died in fancy.

Early Life and Education: Dr. Md. Younus spent his early childhood in his village home. He started his primary education at an infamous school near by his village home named Mohajon Fakirer School. In 1944 his family shifted from village to Chittagong town and he got admitted to Lamabazar Primary School in kurbaniganj of the town. He completed his primary education there. After 1949, he talentfully passed Secondary School Certificate Examination (Matriculation) from the famous School of the city named Chittagong Collegiate School. He set for the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination from Chittagong College. Later he got admitted into Dhaka University and received his BA. and MA. degrees in economics respectively in 1960 and 1961. Then he achieved PhD. in economics in 1971 from Vanderbilt University, USA, under Fullbright  Scholarship.

Career: Obtaining his PhD. degree Dr. Younus joined Tennessee State University as a teacher. He worked there for few times. After the Liberation he came back to his mother land. Later the government appointed him as head of the economics department at the University of Chittagong in 1972. After the famine of 1974 he thought to do something for poverty reduction for this land. Sequence of this he established the Grameen Bank project in 1976 by dint of work hard which was agitated the whole world by leaps and bounds.

In fact, Dr. Younus spent almost of time of his life to develop the Grameen Bank. It was the most challenging subject for him. It may be mentioned that, in order to make the project more effective, he proposed the President during that time of Bangladesh to introduce the "Gram Sarkar" (the village government) programme. The former President Ziaur Rahman also introduced the "Gram Sarkar" receiving his advice. However, in spite of having lot of disadvantages at the primary stage at last Dr.Younus obtained unthinkable successfulness in this innovated project by the grace of Allah. At present Grameen Bank is a very constructive and well established firm in the world. Indeed, it has been possible on account of facing all obstructions with his severe intellectual faculty and patience.    

At first the project was operated by Bangladesh Krishi Bank. Later in 1983, Dr. Younus started an independent organization named "Grameen Bank" meaning 'village bank'. After then he was the Managing Director of Grameen Bank for long time. It is a matter of strange that it fully founded on principles of trust and solidarity. Today in Bangladesh Grameen Bank has near about 3000 branches with 20,000 staffs serving 8.29 million borrowers in 81,367 villages.

Awards:  He got numerous awards for his contribution in the fields of poverty reduction and restore peach. Some substantial of the awards are :

Dr. Md. Younus obtained more than 100 honorable Awards from many other countries and variant international organization. Moreover about 50 honorary doctorate degrees from numerous Universities of the world.     

Contributions and Achievements: The contributions of Dr.Younus beggars description.There are numerous contributions and achievements of Dr. Md.Younus in home and abroad. Among them some of the most significant ones are given below.

(1) He has shown how the credit facility can be expanded by giving loans to poor people without any security deposit.
(2) He has practically implemented the theory of welfare economics.
(3) He has substantial contribution in reduction poverty in Bangladesh. He has proved that the poor men also can play role to development of the country. 
(4) He has set a new model of micro-credit system for the down and out class men of the world  that has been implemented in almost of countries of the world.
(5) He has paid  a great contributions in the field of empowerment of women, which has played a vital role in ensuring gender equality.
(6) His far-sighted ideas have extensively provided in socioeconomic prosperity from the lower level.
(7) His activities have encouraged countless numbers of  poor people to devote themselves to change their fate all over the world.
(8) His theory has learned the poor, neglected, helpless as well as right-less people of the society to survive by struggle against poverty.
(9) He has contribution in ensuring human rights and safeguarding democracy through his activities.
(10) His social and economic innovation have provided to more develop the economic  framework of the country.   

More many contributions of Dr. Md. Younus have manifested in nook and corner of the society as well as in the world.

Conclusion: In fine, I want to make conclusion by mentioning a quotation of the former U.S.A. President Bill Clinton, who said about Dr, Younus as " a man who long ago should have won the Nobel Prize". To be precise, Dr.Younus was qualified for this honorable Prize. It may be mentioned that he is one of only seven persons to have won the Nobel Peace Prize in the world. Dr. Md. Younus who personally first and foremost took vitally initiative for removing poverty in Bangladesh. He is always dedicated for the peace and prosperity of Bangladesh as a native land.

In 1971, during the liberation war of Bangladesh Dr. Younus served many works to create public opinion on behalf of the independence of Bangladesh in the U.S.A. He formed a information center and also published a newsletter in the U.S.A. to increase support for new Bangladesh on that time. After all in support of Bangladesh Dr. Younus regenerated many of natives and foreigners. Although he could not take part in the  nine month's  freedom war of Bangladesh given his studding abroad but he is making war against poverty, malnutrition and illiteracy of Bangladesh in year out. This method of Dr.Younus is a subject to be taught for the people of the present world. And so, today the Grameen Bank concept has implemented about in 58 countries, including the US, Canada, France, Netherlands, Norway, and it is initiating speedy also in more other countries of the world. In fact, Grameen Bank and Dr, Younus, it is a part of parcel of each other.

Therefore, we should respect him in proper way. We should also come forward and devote ourselves for the development of the country like him.
