Newborn Baby Named 'Facebook' in Mexico


The name "Facebook" was given by an Mexican couple in Sonora to their newborn baby for pleasure. But the jestless local authority obstructs their pleasure. 

The regional government bans 61 names including 'Facebook' to prevent from naming children odd names in Mexico. According to yahoo news that, it is clear that there is at least one baby in Sonora town named 'Facebook'. The civil registry distribute a list of such odd names to its local offices around the state of Sonora that has been primarily drawn up from a revision of records of names registered in the past.


By this law Mexican parents will no longer be allowed to name their children Burger King, Hitler, Harry Potter, Rambo including Facebook and derogatory, pejorative, discriminatory and lacking in meaning names or 61 other now banned given names. Director of the civil registry authority said that, the names are banned to prevent the children from embarrassed circumstance in future.


Now-a-days in Mexico, the tendency of naming their children odd names was increasing. In fact, the use of odd names for newborn babies is a long tradition in Mexico.

It maybe mentioned that, meanwhile, an Egyptian couple has also given 'Facebook' name to their newborn daughter on 2011 in honor of the role the social networking website played in the protests that led to longtime president, Hosni Mubarak, stepping down.
