Reason of IT Lag Behind in Bangladesh

The prospect of IT in Bangladesh are very miserable and despondent. The develop countries are using IT in almost every sector and going ahead more and more day by day. But in Bangladesh, IT still lags far behind.

Our neighboring country India is a developing country. But they are very developed in IT industry. On the other hand, the IT industry in Bangladesh is like a dream which is a matter of discussion but will be difficult to materialize that dream. In the present world,where the people can't think doing
anything without computer but in Bangladesh, computer is used as a type machine. Moreover in the various offices, the high officials even the directors use computer as a game machine and a component of amusement. They spend time playing game and watching amusement with computer.

But it is true that the development of IT depends much on the extensive use of computer in the official function. The extensive and appropriate use of internet is another pre-requisite for IT development. There is no doubt that now-a-days lot of institution based on IT have been emerged here and there in Bangladesh. But there are no sufficient IT farms where the students can apply their knowledge. So every year many students are coming out after getting computer science or computer engineering degree but they aren't getting suitable job here. The software development farms are getting closed day by day. 

The unemployment problems of computer engineering degree holders is a major hurdle for the advancement for IT industry. The problem is that no big investment is coming in this sector. Most probably, there is no long-term planing for the development of IT industry in Bangladesh.

Here cyber cafes are used as a spot of playing game for children and clubs of enjoying blue films esp. by the young generation. Although the spread of  cyber cafe is not a bad sign for IT development. But it is a bad when the cyber cafe are used only for enjoying vulgar films. It's seen that a person can not send an e-mail but enjoy vulgar films in the cyber cafe. It is really unfortunate for the country and severely harmful for the prosperity of a nation. 
 The number of programmers is very few. However, they can't apply their practical knowledge due to lack of proper working place. Moreover. whatever development has been done in software is of little value in comparison with world standard. Upgraded software version is not coming here. Beside these, there is much different between theoretically earned knowledge and practically used it. 

Internet has brought the far world near door. It has made the world small. But in Bangladesh, there is very limited internet access throughout the country. Internet speed are also very few. The government has imposed  VAT on ISP (Internet Service Provider) that is a great drawback to development IT in Bangladesh. 

Modern world means IT. At present more or less the development of every sector in the world is based on IT. It seems that without the development of IT the world is blind. So we hope Bangladesh will also not sit behind. Bangladesh is rich in human resources. A large number of educated people can go ahead by receiving IT based education and training.
