My Motherland

Bangladesh is my motherland. It's official name is the "People's Republic of Bangladesh". Bangladesh became independent in 1971 after a nine-month sanguinary war of liberation. A symbol of sovereignty and solidarity our national flag bears most special characteristics. It is very beautiful to look. It's land area is 143,998 square kilometers (55,598 square miles). It's east, west and north sides are bounded by the Indian states. The ocean 'Bay-of Bengal' flows to the south of the country.

The total population of the country is about 150 million (15 crore). It is the most densely populated
country in the world. Bangladesh is a melting pot of races. More than 90% percent of the people are Muslims. The rest of the people are mainly Hindus, Buddhists and Christians. Moreover Some tribes including Chakmas and Mogs peacefully live in the country. Indeed, the people of the country are amiable and hospitable. Their political views is democratic. They have glorious histories of struggle.

It is a playful of  natural beauty. It is a country of six seasons. The Rainy season and Spring is the most charming of them. Bangladesh is a rivery country. It is also called well-watered country for this reason. The Padma, the Meghna, the Jamuna, the Buriganga, the Karnaphuli, the Sitalakshaya, the Brahmaputra the Dhaleswari, the Surma, the Sangu and the Tista are substantial among them. Almost of the rivers fall into the Bay-of-Bengal originating from the Himalayas.  It is a very fertile and green country. World famous beautiful and ferocious animal the 'Royal Bengal Tiger' is a pride of Bangladesh. It is full of trees, flowers and fruits as well as scenic forests. Many types of fruits are available here. Various kind of beautiful song birds make the country joyful.

The main occupation of the people is agriculture. Rice, jute, tea, Sugarcane, wheat, potatoes etc. grow in plenty in Bangladesh. The sight of harvesting of the country is very enchanting.

The official Language of the country is Bangla (Bengali). Almost of the people of the country also like to introduce as a 'Bangladeshi' than 'Bangali'. Their religious festivals are the main festivals of the country. The substantials of  the significant festivals are 'Eid-Ul-Fitr' and 'Eid-Ul-Azha' that observe the Muslims, 'Durgha Puja', 'Kali Puja' and 'Janmastami' that observe the Hindus, 'Buddha Purnima' that obseve the Buddhists and the Christians observe the X-Mas day and other festival with good deal of zest.

The worth-seeing and important tourist spots of the country are mainly Cox's Bazaar, Teknaf, Bandarban, Rangamati, Kaptay, Foy's Lake, Kuakata, Sunderban, Ramsagar, St. Martin etc. There are also a national museum and a national zoo in the country. The communication and transportation system of the country comparatively good condition than before.

Everybody should love and respect their country. It is the duty of all to work to develop the motherland. One that undermines the dignity of his nation, undermines the value of his national independence and sovereignty. We are brave as a nation. We don't want to become subordinate to other nation. So, we should aware and active to safeguard the country as well as the independence. In Fact, I feel proud to be a citizen of Bangladesh.
